Kentucky Derby 2014 At           The GALAXY
140TH KENTUCKY DERBY THE GALAXY MAY 3, 2013This is one of the Aliens who was in the Annual Alien Race held before the running of the Kentucky Derby. It comes out on Halloween and Derby Day every year. Is that MIKE under there?Here is DARLA one of our fave bartenders at The Galaxy. She was scheduled to work out on the Patio Bar but lucky for us it was too windy and she stayed inside for the duration of the race.We took a pic of one of the horses in the race who had a chance to win, SAMRAAT. DRUMSTIR liked this horse. And if R. B. was there he would have liked it too! (Inside joke)Yes, a horse by the name of DANZA was in the race. And, Yes, the horse was named after that famous Taxi star, TONY DANZA. But, No, the horse didn't win. But, Yes, it did Place.The next 7 pictures were taken of the Annual Galaxy Kentucky Derby Hat Contest. Hats are Big at the annual race!The battery on my Nikon digital camera quit at the end of the contest so I didn't get a pic of the winner. But this young lady should have won. She was among the final four contestants. This is another one of the bartenders at The Galaxy, AMY. The Geezers know her from The Grille on Waterloo (Formerly Tap House) when she worked there. It was good to see her.And here are two more of the bartenders for the big day at The Galaxy. taht is THERESA on the right. she also works the Patio Bar during the warmer months.For Galaxy's Derby parties customers have a chance to win prizes for picking different final positions of the race. You can pick the WINNER for one horse, and WIN, PLACE, or SHOW for another horse. Also if you pick the correct finish in the Trifecta you could win $500. No one did. And here we are The Kentucky Derby boys. Nah, actually it's The Geezers MR. LOBBER, JOEBO, and DRUMSTIR seated. And BILLY BOB standing.I WON! I WON! I WON! Yes, I was one of about 6 or 7 people who picked Callifornia chrome to win the race. It is abottle of 14 Hands, Hot To Trot Red Blend. According to DRUMSTIR it is $12.99 on the Net. And another Alfred Hitchcok moment.
Four of the Geezers, went to The Galaxy to watch the 140TH running of the Kentucky Derby, Saturday, May 3rd. It was well run, and we had a great time. Darla, Theresa, and Amy were among others behind the bar. They had the usual hat contest, the proverbial Alien Race, and we had the opportunity to win prizes if we picked the right horses. We also had a chance to win $500 if we hit the Tri-Fecta exactly. No one did. We only won ONE thing. I was one of 7 or 8 people who won a bottle of 14 Fingers wine for correctly picking California Chrome as the Winner. Incidently the wine is from California. See pictures below from the party
