And here they are THE PHANTOM BAND. Back by popular demand!
BIG DADDY is on drums, from (L-R Standing) BIG BOI, JOE "BUZZY HOLLY", and HANKY PANKY. Here is a shot of some of the people back in the dart room listening to the band. SWISH/SPIKE taking the pics. Another pic in the back of some Christmas revelers. the staff at JOM (the bar) had to bring osme tables and chairs from the loft upstairs to accomodate the number of peopel there. Here's R. B. the Geezers Nite Out Entertainment Director surveying the crowd. HANKY PANKY with his Elf cap on. He also has a string of lights strung around him which you can' t see because of the flash on the camera. See next pic WITHOUT the flash!NO FLASH!this is JED DERHAMMER on the left who was instrumental (No pun intended) in having the Phantom Band perform at JOM. That is his wife LINDA in the green on the right. And here we have none other than our humble drummer 'BIG DADDY" DAN MINIER. And here is Big Boi's wife PAMDA. Where you say? Why behind the pole!A performance by the Phantom Band just wouldn't be complete without an appearance by DRUMSTIR singing his signature MEDOLY!A rare appearance by the BENDER BROS. BIG BOI (On the left), and DAVE. Dave is originally from Akron, but now lives in Iowa. And here we have two former associates at Goodyear, who became fast friends! FRIENDS? On the left is none other than BOBBY TOMPKINS! Again the BENDER BROS.We wanted to thank JEN (Owner, Second from left), and the rest of her staff for giving us the opportunity to play for the Goodyear Christmas party. The group has quite a tradition.
Also pictured from L-R are RENEE, Jen, MARTY, and NAVEEN. They all took good care of us.Here is a photo without the flash on the camera so that you can see the lights better on this beautiful tree.Another pic of THE PHANTOM BAND taken by SWISH.A good shot of "BIG DADDY', and the BENDER BROS.This pciture wasn't supposed to make it on here. It was an EXTRA shot, a "Just in case". But I couldn't resist putting it on because of the expression on JEN's face.
The Phantom Band was born many years ago in Dan Powell's basement.  We took the name due to the fact that we practiced in Danno's basement usually on the weekend, but we never played anywhere.  That all changed one snowy winter night, when we played for the first time at a restaurant/bar near Goodyear called Katmandu. It was a new business in the same building that used to house a popular German restaurant called The Bavarian House
It became a popular hang out for the Goodyear work force after a hard day in the office. Another friend of ours, Jerry White, who was a charismatic person, eventually got to know the owners. One thing led to another, and Jerry talked the owners into having a party for the Goodyear customers with the Phantom Band playing their first gig. It was winter, and the night of the party we had one of the worst snowfalls on record. However, we were excited about playing for our frist time so we all showed up. The owners were surprised that we did. Not only did the band show up, but about 100 Goodyear customers did too. (Maybe it wasn't a hundred). We played, and everyone had a good time. From there the band began a musical journey that will go down in infamy.
Both Danno, and Jerry have passed away, but not before the Phantom Band band morphed into the Oldies But Goodies Band with Jack Bishop, a popular local singer/musician. That band eventually also met it's demise like all bands do, but not after a very successful run for a few years. with various musicians.
A little over a year ago, the Geezers were entertaining the idea of having a jam session at Dusty's Landing with some of the remaining members of the Phantom Band.  We did just that with four musicians who at one time or another played with the original Phantom Band or the offshoot OBGB.  We ended up playing at Dusty's a number of times throughout the year, and we used the familiar name of The Phantom Band in memory of Dan Powell.
The last time that we played before that was in 2006 at the same Just One More, which is now under new management, also for a Goodyear Christmas Party.  The 2006 party came about because one of the owners for JOM during that time was a former manager for the old Katmandu where the Goodyear parties occured many years ago.
On December 22, 2010 the Phantom Band was back at it at Just One More one more time. It now is under new management, and some of the people who know us (Jed Derhammer, Larry Moneypenny) also know the new owner, and it all just came about with their help. It just so happened that  the band was looking for a Chrismtas gig for 2010. We sort of think that also Danno might have had something to do with it!
We were thrilled with the response that we received from the Goodyear associates who showed up for the occasion, and who remembered us from many years past. It was a great night. I hope that you enjoyed the above photos, and that we will see you again next year at Just One More, One More Time, God willing!
I want to thank Bob Siwsher for taking most of the photos. Years ago he was our sound man!
