Memories of
DUANE HAMILTON
The Geezers have known Dewster, as we called him, and his wife Gayle for quite some time. He was good friends with Denny Edwards, one of the Geezers, who he worked with at Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton.
I, Joe Buz, personally met him on the golf course when Denny invited me to play a round of golf at Chipewa Golf Course. He was a very good golfer as I recall.
Dewster was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and the Cincinnati Bengals. I remember one time when the Geezers were invited over to his home for a Browns/Bengals game.
The Geezers have been meeting, as a group, for over 15 years. We meet every Wednesday at a different restaurant/bar. Once they got to know us Dewster, and Gayle would stop by to say hello!
Dewster was a great guy, who was a lot of fun who liked to tease us with his dry sense of humor.
During the Indians heydays in the 90's, when they were winning pennants, and division championships the Hamilton's were part of the gatherings that we use to have to watch the games.
It was hard to hear when he came down with Lymphoma, and that him, being in his later years, that there wasn't much they could do. We heard when he entered into hospice at home which was not a good sign. But it was still an unbelievable shock when we heard that he passed. We will always remember the good times that we had when he was around. R.I.P. DEWSTER!
That's why we wanted to post a few of the pictures that we took over the years of our meetings below.
