GEEZERS NITE OUT At Caston & Main BREW YARD
Wednesday February 15, 2017 the Geezers met at a place that they have never been before. We meet every Wednesday evening at a different establishment. At the beginning we started visiting new places. After awhile we ran out of new places, and just just changed the meeting places that we went every month. We vote every month where those places will be the following month.

So on this Wednesday we went to a new place. The Brew Yard. It has been in existence for about a year and a half. It is a unique place near Portage Lakes in Akron, Ohio. It has a restaurant area, and a comfy bar. We always go to the bar if there are enough seats depending on the turn out of Geezers.

At the bar you have your choice of featured craft draft beers. They also have beer in the bottles, and cans of your choice. The featured beers are ever changing. And then after the beer there are many Specialty Drinks available.

They refer to their food menu as: NOT YOUR TYPICAL BAR FOOD. They have 3 different Menus: Main, Brunch, and Lunch. Wednesday nite when we were there it was Slider Day. They offered about 7 or 8 different types of sliders. S. B. had the BLT sliders, R. B. had the Combo plate. Mix, and match.
I had the Chicken Tacos, and we all agree that the food was versy tasty.
To get an idea of what we are talking about go to their website at www.castonbrewyard.com.
Their address is 5010 S Main St, Akron 44319.

This coming Wednesday we will be at Legends Sports Pub & Grille in Green. And after Thursday most of the Geezers will be down in Florida for their annual get together. Some will be staying down there until Spring. We are voting this Wednesday, and there will be a schedule posted for March.

We will have a few pictures posted from this nite on our PHOTOS page shortly.

WHAT COULD THESE TWO HAVE IN COMMON?
Here we have our Entertainment Director R. B., and TV celebrity Steve Harvey. What could these two possibly have in common? R. B. handles the voting that our group makes at the end of each month to choose the meeting places that we go to each Wednesday.

Steve Harvey is known for his tenure on It's Showtime At The Apollo, and recently The Steve Harvey Show, and Family Feud. He is from Cleveland, OH, and he used to appear at Hilarities Comedy Club early in his career.

Anyone who follows his career will know how he botched announcing the winner of the Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas in December of 2015. He announced the first runner up Miss Columbia as the winner. A few minutes after she was crowned, Harvey announced that he had read the results incorrectly, and that Miss Philippines was the new Miss Universe. He blew it!

What happened with R. B. was not as earth shattering, but nonetheless it had an effect on the people involved. It all began at the Geezers meeting at the Firehouse at Tallmadge Circle on May 3rd. We were scheduled to meet at The Galaxy in Wadsworth on May 10th for the first time this year. We only meet there during the warmer months for The Patio Party with live entertainment. After a week or so with the previous week of 80 plus temps it became a lot cooler with rain.

With the weather forecast for the week of May 7 looking questionable, R. B. was concerned that the patio at the Galaxy may not be open on May 10. The following week, May 17, we were scheduled to go to Dusty's Landing. At Firehouse R. B. proposed that we might want to switch Galaxy with Dusty's since the weather didn't look promising for May 10th. The consensus was that we would wait until the following week to see if the forecast got any better.

As it turned out we ended up going to The Galaxy after all. It turned out to be a pleasant day. The patio was open, and the band played on. However, there was one problem. Three of the Geezers were at or on there way to LEGENDS! Why Legends you say? Good question. We found out while we were at The Galaxy that R. B. sent out a text to 4 of the Geezers who were at the Firehouse when it was undecided where our next meeting would be held for sure.

Then it happened. R. B. sent a Group text to S. B., Billy Bob, The Forester, and Fergie who were all at the Firehouse on the  Wednesday before The Galaxy meeting. His text read something like this: "Weather looks OK for Wednesday. See you at LEGENDS." Yes Legends! He meant to say GALAXY, but typed Legends.

So R. B. Had put the incorrect meeting location in that text to FOUR Geezers. This is what those four did. The Forester, and Fergie showed up at Legends. Billy Bob answered the Group text and said that he was running late, but would be heading to Legends after he arrived home. That's when a light bulb went off in R. B.'s head. He then checked his Group text, and realized what he did. S. B. never read the text so he showed up at the Galaxy. R. B. sent out another text to the Forester and Fergie. S. B., Forester, and Billy Bob made it to the Galaxy. But Forester, and Billy Bob were not happy campers. Fergie was at Legends, but never came to the Galaxy.

In R. B.'s defense, since he brought up the possibility of switching the Galaxy because of weather concerns indoors to Dusty's, and did not, he was just trying to make sure everyone who was at the May 3 meeting knew that we were still going to the Galaxy. Since he lives near legends and we usually meet there every month he pulled a Steve Harvey. He apologized to those involved.

Last Wednesday, May 17th, we did go to Dusty's as scheduled. This coming Wednesday, May 24, we are scheduled at The Galaxy again. However the weather forecast does not look too good for that night.. Could there be a Deja Vue moment coming up his week? The following Wednesday, May 31, we are scheduled to go to, none other than, the famous LEGENDS

See you at The Galaxy!

BACK AT IT!
The Geezers Nite Out Wednesday, June 7, was held at Johnny J's in Springfield. Last week on May 31, we were out at The Galaxy in Wadsworth. But R. B. (Gary Dannemiller) was not there. He was in Akron General Hospital. Our foreign Geezer, Buddmann (Bud Dulan) surprised us with a visit from Germany, but no R. B.

He had not been feeling well, and on May 26 he went to Emergency in Green, and in turn they sent him to General hospital. After spending nearly a week there, and after a battery of tests, he was released in the afternoon of May 31, but not in time to make it to The Galaxy. He still is experiencing some effects from the ordeal.
However, the results of the tests have indicated that it was nothing serious. On this Wednesday he felt well enough to attend the Geezers meeting. Here he is in the picture above with The Jerry (Jerry Eck/Jerry's Corner). Jerry usually has other commitments on Wednesdays, but he made a special trip to JJ's because he heard that R. B. would be there.

Yes, R. B. is "Back at it", and we are glad that he is.
