TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME
The son of one of our Geezer's, Spike (Swish), Rob, went to a Cleveland Indians game in June, and he was fortunate enough to snag a Major League foul; ball.
I have been going to Indians games since my Dad first took me for over 50 years. And not once did I ever catch a foul ball.

However, I did have one given to me by none other than one of the greatest relief pitchers in baseball, Dennis Eckersley. I was at a game many years ago with a girlfriend. It had been raining, and there weren't many people there. A group of players who were walking by stopped to talk to her, and were singing her program. Like Rico Carty, Cory Snyder.
I was sitting there by myself when Eck walked up to me reached into his back pocket, and gave me a baseball while saying:" Here, I know how you feel!"
Of course I had him autograph it!

(There is a story behind this with Eckersley, but I am not going to go into it)

IN REMEMBRANCE
Joanne M. Zurawsky
It is very sad for us to report that the wife of Allen T.  Zurawsky, our most avid reader of our website, has passed away on July 19, 2016 after a short illness.

Al would faithfully check our website every week, and relay what he read to Gary Dannemiller, a friend and the GNO Website Entertainment Director
Joanne, and Al were married for 49 years. They enjoyed vacations together to Las Vegas, and jaunts down to Hilton Head with the Dannemiller Family, and other friends.

One thing that surprised me in the obituary was that Joanne was an avid bowler. She participated in the annual Ohio State Women's Bowling Tournament for 45 years.

We want to wish Al, and the rest of his family our Sincere Sympathy.

There was an obituary in the Akron Beacon Journal which can be viewed on Ohio.com
DMILL OUT!
Our Entertainment Director, R. B. (Gary Dannemiller) finally retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co on March 11, 2016 after 42 years of service. For the last 6 months or so he has been working "part time" 3 days a week. But it has recently become "Official"!

On Sunday, June 5, 2016, Gary's wife, Brenda threw a Surprise Retirement Party for Gary, that he didn't really want, at Legends Sports Bar in Green.

There were a lot of people invited, and a lot of those showed up.
